About the Professional Services Department

As a Technical Project Manager you will be part of the Professional Services department with team members distributed across Austria, Bulgaria, UK, France and Greece, with technical and non-technical backgrounds ranging from knowledge management, project management and computational linguistics to data engineering, software engineering or system engineering. The Professional Services department works closely with our clients and prospective clients to design and build solutions on top of Graphwise product portfolio based on their business and technology requirements, to deliver state of the art functionality and business value to our clients.

About the Role

Graphwise has been delivering consulting services to prospects, customers and partners in the form of projects. The Project Manager organizes the operations of a project team, plans, develops and delivers the project together with the project team, monitors and reports the project progress and the project resources, and coordinates internal and external support to solve organizational problems and to mitigate delivery risks. In addition to subject matter expertise in project management processes and frameworks, the project manager is expected to develop expertise in Graphwise products, the knowledge graph based businesses and use cases, and understanding of common business, organizational and technical requirements to facilitate project operations. The project manager facilitates the delivery of Graphwise products & services, and the realization of their values, which eventually contributes to customers’ success and the development of growth opportunities.

The Project Manager role can be based in our Vienna (Austria) or Sofia (Bulgaria) offices. We offer a hybrid model (up to 3 days per week remote) following an initial onboarding period. For senior-level candidates, fully remote work may be considered by mutual agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary contact to communicate progress, manage expectations, and align stakeholders on project risks and issues.
  • Presales Collaboration: Partner with sales and engineering teams to develop use cases, requirements, and comprehensive business proposals.
  • Project Initiation & Planning: Define high-level goals, draft SOWs, and develop detailed implementation plans including timelines, resources, and work breakdown structures.
  • Execution Leadership: Oversee project plan delivery, providing organizational guidance and support to both internal and client development teams.
  • Project Controlling: Monitor resource allocation, track milestone fulfillment, and manage change requests and risk mitigation.
  • Project Closure: Coordinate formal delivery acceptance, archive documentation, and ensure all contractual and commercial obligations are met.
  • Organizational Coordination: Resolve cross-departmental issues and collaborate with product teams to fulfill specific customer requests.
  • Team Enablement: Drive the development of operational processes, training programs, and project management best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years managing and delivering IT projects, preferably in a technical environment.
  • Methodology: Deep understanding of the full project lifecycle using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Team Management: Proven track record of leading and managing remotely distributed project teams.
  • Client Relations: Expert-level experience in managing client communications and expectations.
  • Planning Skills: Strong organizational ability to estimate, prioritize, and coordinate complex work streams.
  • Risk Management: Demonstrated experience identifying, tracking, and mitigating project changes and risks.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Problem Solving: Solid analytical skills to navigate project roadblocks and organizational challenges.

Qualifications that are an Asset

  • Consulting Background: Prior experience in IT professional services or a client-facing consultancy.
  • Domain Expertise: Familiarity with Semantic Web and Knowledge Graph technology domains.
  • Certification: Formal Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum Master).
  • Industry Knowledge: Specialized experience in sectors like Financial Services, Healthcare, or Retail.
