In this webinar, taxonomy consultant and author Heather Hedden joins Gary Leicester, Solution Architect at Graphwise, for a conversation about AI’s growing role in taxonomy creation. Heather brings a practitioner’s perspective to the questions the taxonomy community is asking right now: How does AI change the role of taxonomists? Is AI more suitable for some taxonomies than others? Are AI-generated hierarchies compliant with standards, and where does human expertise remain essential?

In the second half, Heather walks through the practical side: the real challenges of taxonomy creation, where AI tools like Taxonomy Advisor and Taxonomy Builder make a difference, and what a human-in-the-loop workflow looks like: for both the seasoned taxonomist and the subject matter expert building a taxonomy for the first time.

You’ll leave with:

  • Expert takes on AI’s real strengths and limitations in taxonomy work
  • Understanding of when to use AI, and when human judgment is needed
  • A practitioner’s look at AI-assisted taxonomy tools
